Summer Writing Invitation
10 Writers Invited to Creative Circle
I love writing about writing, but, if I am honest I can skirt some of the I-am-ready-to-be-written projects because [insert elemental excuses: time, texture, need another book, need better lighting, not quite ready, et cetera].
I have written two nature inspired poems that I am pretty excited about. Neither are finished, but look at what happened today when I was wondering if it was time to do a writing circle. I got snoozing dog approval:
Writing is so personal that it can be WILDLY profound to gather in a committed group to write. I have a longer piece that has tapped me on the shoulder and a shorter curriculum that I am super, excited about and one of the foundational texts that I am sourcing arrives this week. That to say the call to create is stirring.
If you join the Writing Circle I may ask you all some questions, too. When you have a sanctified creative circle inspiration and clarity can swoop in quickly.
I am open to weekday or weekend, but I would prefer a Wednesday Morning Writing Session. Wednesdays are good days to write. To write anything we have to “get your tucks in a chair.” I recently ran across this from my namesake (note the double A), a much more eloquent invitation:
“As one goes through life one learns that if you don’t paddle your own canoe, you don’t move.” — Katharine Hepburn
If you have a someday piece, it’s time to get paddling.
If you are spiraling in a what-is-this-world-doing-right-now, pick up a pen with good-hearted people. Changes the story.
If you don’t have time, but want to gift another, gift a founding members subscription.
I love awarding prizes to people. It compounds joy.
Scheduled dates are the 2nd Wednesdays of June 10th, July 8th and August 12th. We launch at 10am EST. Join from anywhere.
We have seats for 10 writers.
You can come with something to work on or you can respond to prompts. We may even add a hot-seat component to it. You don’t have to be a writer; you only have to want to write.
We will have prompts that grow the skills of observation, nature and the arc of storytelling.
Beware of embarking on a great work. This is the mistake that our best minds make, the very people with the most talent and the fiercest ambition. I made the same mistake myself, and I know what it cost me. There was so much that came to nothing! If I had written everything that I perfectly well could have, it would have filled more than a hundred volumes. - Goethe
Come friends, let’t gather this summer.
Happy tails to you,
Kate
