Have you ever had your day changed from inhaling a star-gazer lily? a rose? or even the aroma of fresh lavender? It is momentarily altering.
I have always loved flowers, but I wasn’t aware of them as an ally or a vibration. They kinda crept into my own awareness. I think it first happened when I met plants that I was not familiar with. When I saw the cactus of Joshua Tree and realized that Dr. Seuss had Mother Nature for inspiration.
The more I travelled to different climates and regions the more I could feel the tonal difference around me. The pulse of a place greets not only our eyes and ears, but the textures of the food, and the frequency of our internal landscape. Some places make us gasp in beauty, sigh in relief, or grit our teeth in endurance.
It took my a long time to open up and connect to the power potency available in the flower essence realm for our internal landscape. It’s a frequency. Just think of all the tonal beauty and difference from a hydrangea to an orchid.
So what is a flower essence?
It is a vibrational essence (think water + a small percentage of alcoholic preservative) that is made with a part of a plant + the open-mindedness of receiving support from the plant kingdom. This is then physically rationed out, put in a dosage bottle, and you can take some. And yes, some are even in the aisle at Whole Foods, but you can also totally make them yourself. If you are curious about using this tool more specifically and to unravel long held-patterns or acute experience, a skilled practitioner is recommended (I offer one below).
How does it work?
It’s vibrational.

The greatest resource I can extend you if you are thirsty for inspiration is to read Edward Bach’s Heal Thyself. It is but a tiny book distilled to the essence of truth in its interest to awaken humans to the depth of their possibility: that is to know, understand and elevate themselves.
Knowledge of the Soul’s purpose and acquiescence in that knowledge means the relief of earthly suffering and distress, and leaves us free to develop our evolution in joy and happiness. - Edward Bach
Working on the subtle realms, as flower essences do, it is not great leap to see how working with frequency can attune one to their purpose. If we are not comfortable or familiar with working with the refinement of our own frequency - that is okay. Not knowing does not make it disappear. At one time we could not walk, we did not have the structure or the strength to accomplish this, but once we did our whole perspective and reality changed.
The fabulous thing about flower essences is that there is not the threat of an ill effect, truly. They can, if you are sensitive bring up emotional issues that you need to be prepared to unravel or release. But you can also simply look to essences that bring calm, like crabapple or chamomile, or rescue remedy to make friends with a resource that seeks to stabilize and nourish your well being.
The more I look, the more I see that the Natural world is waiting for us and has this amazing ability to work dynamically. not prescriptively with our divine essence. The more the world speeds up to the frequency of technology the more I see humans have a potent invitation to create upon their own terms and believe they have the ability to do so. I see there is so much opportunity for unity and balance, which of course can only really start within, like the blooming of our flower friends.
