How many of you pop open a book intuitively for insight? I love doing this, flipping to a page and see what is looking back. That’s the locus of today’s post + writing prompt.
It is my experience that the mere act of putting wishes on the page begins to put them into motion. - Julia Cameron
Are you ready? We are going to write down our wishes.
Take out a piece of paper and write down 1- 15 and fill them with your wishes. Cameron encourages us that they will vary in size and importance. For example:
I wish my hair were longer
I wish I had a garden
I wish my best friend lived closer
I wish I exercised more
I wish I had passive income
Wish lists are more potent than they appear, Written out once a month they actually move on a subconscious level to act in the direction of our dreams. It is my experience that the mere act of putting wishes on the page begins to put them into motion. First you wish you were exercising a little more, then you find yourself walking a little more briskly. - Julia Cameron
I agree.
I am also a entertained and gobsmacked at what came out. So we’ll bring these wishes and lists to our Q + I on September 6th. You won’t have to read them, but we’ll talk about them.
Can I tell you The Golden Thread of this moment? The book that I pulled off the shelf this morning, The Right to Write, before coffee, after morning meditation came to me over two years ago. A dear friend was dropping her daughter off at school and saw one of those delightful little pop-up libraries. Have you seen them with their small latches holding a hosts of potential gems handed down from others?
My friend saw the book and thought of me. I’ve yet to read it. But, it’s Julia Cameron so it’s a resource worth having and thus it was given a residence within my teaching box.
Last night I was sitting with The Golden Thread and what I really want this place to be. A place to invite us back into the sacred. To open our eyes to the interconnection that is begging for permission to reveal itself. I set an intention when I went to bed last night and I woke up to a golden silent morning and a whisper. I opened a secondary box of books and pulled out: A gifted notebook with my dog’s face on it, Julia Cameron’s book and Rudolph Price’s Abundance meditation. That’s a good trinity.
I flipped open Cameron’s book and this is what I opened to on page 111:
Integrating: An Initiation tool.
Pretty clear.
I wanted this when we started our first Q + I, but the initiation hadn’t finished threading. The wobble of unpredictability (thank you power outage), showed me where to dig a little deeper and set the prayer and the intention on solid ground and necessary depth. Sometimes being human is like that. But so is wading through the adversity to a perfected moment with the thread of learning running through to lead the way.
So notice: Is there something you are now ready to thread and let show you the way? Is it winking at you from a list of wishes?
Let us know, below. Or in our Q +I.
Big love,
Kate
