When I had my second Vedic Astrology reading in late 2003 it was with
. I had had a little trepidation — it’s not what you think. She came exquisitely recommended. My last in depth read was with a powerhouse of a woman, so is Juliana I would quickly learn — but in the arc of the story I hadn’t met Juliana yet. The other master astrologer had passed, yet her name still rings for those she served, Bethelya.Betheyla was ahead of her time and showed me how Vedic Astrology could be a tool to better meet my life and live it, not hide or use it to “see the future.” It is an art to helping decode yourself, strengths and weaknesses, and how your life curriculum is coursing through the year and the stars, the weather if you will, to grow you or see if you are ready to make new choices. I’m not an astrologer, so I’ll leave the rest of the description for another day, and this post is not really about astrology, just like the last post wasn’t really about a dog walk. They are related though.
Juliana was technically my third astrologer; I had gone to one shortly after Bethelya left this life and finding out about Juliana. I will not name them. They were being hosted at a respected family’s home; they were affiliated with a well known guru so I thought, I’ll sign up for short session, to not miss the opportunity.
This is a red flag moment. When I had had sessions (two in total over many years) with Bethelya, I had really ground into my intention. I had learned about her, and why she used astrology as a tool. I had listened to my own intuition, for me a felt sense, that this was a good idea and a good alignment for me.
When I signed up for the astrologer I didn’t know, but followed what everyone else was excited about, I was just going to go. It served me a fabulous lesson in energetic boundaries and listening to my self and the significance in intention setting for personal development.
The reading hit every wrong note. The person knew whom I was dating at the time and I think was a little enamored with their reputation and mentioned them in my reading. HUGE no-no by the way. It’s a breech of privacy. The person went on to formulaically pontificate on what he thought a 30 year-old single woman may be wanting and through the entire session my internal voice kept saying: No, nope, no.
It was not the no of denying self reflection it was the no of my intuition. The session was akin to him telling me I lreally loved cats, when all I talk about is dogs. I learned a valuable lesson about ever allowing anyone to access my chart or my energy. I deeply tightened my boundaries, and for that I am grateful for the session.
Time had passed and I was interested in having an astro-cartography reading and I really did my research before contacting Juliana. I also set clear intentions for my session, and for what my chosen parameters are and informed her in the intake sheet of my not-so-great experience.
I’ll never forget how Juliana opened our session. I can still see the light coming through the bedroom window, the top floor of a Victorian triplex. The last room I lived in before I packed up my life for Hawaii.
She opened with a prayer. The prayer included calling upon Betheyla, thanking her for serving me, and asking that she guide Juliana to help communicate what would serve “Kate’s being for the highest good.” The purity of Juliana’s humility brought me to tears. My spirit knew I was in safe hands. I can remember the exhale. She was a balm upon the carelessness I had placed upon myself, and she brought me back in relationship with an ancient wisdom. Her reading was astronomically helpful, clear and informing of what would be a major, major life change.
The wisdom keepers can see the threads; they aren’t burdened by the illusion of being the only or being right; they are uplifted by the commitment to serve others. In the aligned presence of the other, we can hear ourselves. We can potentize our prayers for clarity. The first place to find this clarity is always, always, always within. It is the biggest lesson we are here to learn. The second is to ask for help.
The second question she asked me was, “Are you a perfectionist?”
I’ll come back and answer that one soon- it took me 16 years to see its accuracy.
Thanks for picking up The Golden Thread,
Kate
