I still associate May with Mary and the May processions — anyone else here have the memories of the white veil and the patent leather shoes with the black scuff marks? I was always climbing trees, so if there wasn’t a scuff mark there was a black and blue mark on my shin from shimmying up and over anything I could climb.
I have not read this book, but it is on my list and I think a perfect summer read.
If you have been here for awhile you know that I am an active library card user. A helpful perk to being a mom, being at the library at least once a week, is remembering how precious our libraries are. I finally have my hands on this one, and I am enjoying it.
I am not that far into the book because I have been binge watching a phenomenally written show on Apple TV (I don’t have Netflix or cable) called The Morning Show. Have you seen this? Let me know. I am riveted. I knew nothing about it when I started so I won’t say a word, but let me know in the comments if you are watching / have watched 😱
I also started reading another book the day of the Full Moon and eclipse #iykyk and it has captivated me.
"This groundbreaking book offers a compelling understanding of inherited trauma and fresh, powerful tools for relieving its suffering. Mark Wolynn is a wise and trustworthy guide on the journey toward healing." --Tara Brach, PhD, author of Radical Acceptanceand True Refuge Read more about it here
I have done family constellation work, went into it unsuspecting, and I was gobsmacked, by the work & the stories we carry of our family, and how they interweave in ways we are not conscious of. Take note, this is not a complaint. It is a statement of fact.
Actually, it is call towards upliftment or expansion. We are not solitary beings. We are interconnected spiritual beings (even if I do not always act like it, or want to act like it, does not change the truth of it; there is no social media filter strong enough to hide what we do not see).
In reading more about somatic (deeply interested in nervous system regulation), I was recommended this book and grabbed it out of my local library before I knew it was about family constellation work. This is a repetitive theme at The Golden Thread —following the thread. I am halfway through this one an I will be buying it to keep on my shelves as reference for content and client work, and the library I am building for my 5 year old son.
As for kid books, our current favorite is delightful:
If you are looking for podcasts to listen to, I’d like to share this episode with Amy Angelo, who navigates change & elder care with tremendous respect. This episode traces The Golden Thread of passion and purpose in the most beautiful way, reminding us of life’s delicacy as well as the necessary legitimacy of sharing our gifts. Both are threaded together.
Thank you for those that support the Rebirth podcast, I know with so much information today it is important to pick and choose what we digest.
Anyone else feeling like there are a lot of feelings and swirling moving through?
You are not alone.
I had a recent realization about my course Sit in Your Center (and you know our writing class is called Sit & Write) well, the word Sit gave me a huge a-ha about the very nature of why Sitting is such a perplexing word to so many in a rushed, multi-tasking world. For now you want some help sitting, check The Everyday Meditation Method for a self-study in anchoring in your own practice.
or dance so you can make some place to sit, do what works.
You aren’t crazy, but you are here to thrive in crazy times.
More soon,
