Forward | Backward the Line of Destiny Runs
Have you ever looked at the date of some of your old Facebook posts, or a journal and noticed a cycle, or theme that happens to repeat or one that emerges at a certain time of year?
It can be an interesting peek into cycles.
Writers live the world twice. First in the moment. Second when they write it. I’m not sure who originally wrote those words, and I definitely don’t know who first spoke them, but we live them.
All writers do. We sometimes sit down, tilt our head and look up for just the right word. And there is our patron saint, David Whyte, reminding us that sitting down is enough. That being here is enough, that paying attention is enough.
What a practice for writers and creatives — all humans create. We create our day, our patterns, and our lives. We have to cultivate the inner-soundtrack. I haven’t quite figured out why the default theme-song is a negative one, but once you know that it’s not you and that the factory default for our modern era is one that doubts our worth— You can change it.

Change comes in so many forms. One is an acceptance of your inherent worth-it-ness, as indicated by you sitting here and now, reading these words & being. Braid belief with simple, consistent choices of validating your enoughness, and watch the doors of your day and your heart open.
Start small and grow.
The funny thing is the smaller we start, the more we connect with the seed that carries it all. There is a line of destiny that runs through all our lives uniquely. And, there is line of commonality that connects us all, too. That means we cannot be too late, and if we are lost there is a key embedded into the moment that we are in. Now, I am not going to tell you that there is a reason. A key is different than a reason. A reason can help us lean validate something being right or wrong, good or bad.A key, however, returns us to our enoughness.
A key says, let’s see if we can use this moment to open another door of perception, of opportunity, or most lovingly of peace. When we are lost, we can sit and write, or reach out into that connection and breathe. We can sit in our seat and wiggle our toes and turn to find something beautiful. We can be having a lovely day and share some of our overflow, whatever works to bring us back to the “opening to life the we have refused again and again until now. Until now.”
Thank you, David Whyte.
Until now,
Kate
A little more: Curious peeking into cycles and how to work some more connection with in your own self? There is a practice of reaching forward and backward into our selves that I felt so silly about sharing, but I did. And 24 hours later I read this Facebook post and a few other clues. So, let me know if you try it too.
