What would life be if we never had the courage to attempt anything? - Vincent Van Gogh
This little ground flower is called Spring Beauty, specifically Claytonia viginica. She adorned our lake walk; her fragile self proclaimed so much, well, beauty. Sometimes things really don’t need to be overcomplicated. They can be themselves. Named simply, blooming honestly, rooted in the moment.
Like you.
Spring is such a welcomed expansion after months and months of contraction in the cold. The explosion of colors is a heart-expander, one can feel the eyes being nourished by the yellows, pink and soft gentle hues of the Earth awakening. The warm becoming again and again. We are excited to get-back-at-it, after the internal tending of the winter months.
I can see why marketers tell us to pick our audience and let the rest go. Be authentically you, and not lessen your message to attract a wider audience. Look at Spring Beauty, her timing is short but her job is specific and powerful. She’s no sunflower. She arises from the Earth and whispers — look.
This Spring renewal is pulling at the center and now is the time to think about your sure and specific job of the season. I said job, but I meant joy. Being joyful in times of chaos is a wild and necessary act of rebellion. It says I will no stray from why I am here. Spring Beauty shines in front of those that notice her, and those that don’t. She is known to grow in rich, wet soil. She knows what she needs, seeks it out and responds in kind for those with eyes to see.
What are you creating?
We all have a lot to do.
We are being inundated to consume.
But what was the last thing you created out of JOY?
You know that saying “If you don't have time to meditate for 5 minutes, then meditate for an hour."
I think the same of creativity.
For me, it was often pen to paper (still is, that’s why we are here. Thank you so much to all the paid subscribers that support the ideas to continue moving from thought to form), but I have slowly, awkwardly and intentionally made time for more art.
Art like watercolor.
Colored pencil in journals.
Candle-lit mornings of scribbling and quiet contemplation.
Yummy, healthy frittatas and fruit crisps.
Walks with no destination, no steps being measured.
Books that uplift.
Media diet, no need for the weight IF all I am doing is consuming and not transmutig or using the calories to do something.
We are moving from action to sustaining (Aries to Taurus) and I often have a 1,0001 ideas yet the thought that is returning over and over again for me is — go bigger and create more. Like, walk after dinner, rather watch someone else feed a pet squirrel on social media, or someone else stretch their body, or someone else laugh with a friend.
Create more. Be your own Spring Beauty, let your purpose draw your people (your friends, you clients, your own peace of mind) near.

The differential between humans living their best lives, and humans caught in a race loop they cannot get off of — is those that create. You can either experience the experience of others through a screen, or you can taste the ripeness of a strawberry on a sunny afternoon with your kiddo and smile over at your good friends glad that you chose to create a life in harmony with your joy, a life that will live inside your heart forever.
As always, the choice is yours.
BIG Love,
Kate
Thank you for the reminder to seek Joy and when she shows up may I have the courage to take a walk with her!
I’ve been reading a lot of posts lately about creating - specifically writing. Finding ways to write, time to write, space to write, permission to write. Your take, Kate, that writing is soothing to your soul, not to mention important to get out into the world, is the best take yet. Thank you for that message.
