Back in our November I shared a few of the books I was reading. I still haven’t read “Remarkably Bright Creatures,” not sure why that dance is happening there, but we have read a slew of really sweet children’s books that I wanted to share with you as well as what I am reading and enjoying — not many fiction pieces for me & I am open to recommendations.
Here’s some sweet kids books:
This book is funny & has a great message on the being a friend & being yourself.
I have a hugger, so this book is a great conversation starter for a world that doesn’t default (yet) to hugging.
I love this book. My son told the library, “My mom got this out last time too.” I chuckled. It is gorgeously illustrated, but it has a wonderful message about our beloved bees and invitation for all us to understand the intricate wisdom of nature. I think this one will be making a permanent home on our shelf.
This is a gorgeous book. It is a beautiful, magical rendering of the seasons, and it is A’s favorite of our recently top-shelf library haul. It is fanciful and soothing for bedtime read.
I am picking up bread making again now that we have a bit of a daily rhythm. I had one starter that perished when I was traveling years ago. Then a friend me a gluten-free one last year, but I was never able to get on her (the starter’s) vibe. So, I am attempting my own starter, and will be baking it in my dutch oven—if every thing goes to plan.
Unbeknownst to me my sister had exactly the same plan; the resonance of this synchronicity delights me to no end. My sister is an excellent cook and baker. She recommended this, so I got it out of the library to see if I could work with it. The book is informative and well-laid out; we’ll see how my starter holds up.
The other thing I am choosing to be more attentive to this year, I already hinted at is rhythm and cycles. So to pay attention to that I am journaling with an eye towards cycles and seasons, and I choose this book for a weekly contemplation. I love it, but I also already love Steiner.
I am currently reading and deeply enjoying this for philosophical contemplation:
This book is an intellectual dissection of source texts with the perspective of Vedic interpretations (my description) which I am deeply enjoying. I am already partial to Paramahansa Yogananda. The first time I met him was when I read Autobiography of a Yogi and that was an experience I treasure: If you know, you know. Back to the two volume text, it is not light reading but it is expansive. I bought it from the Self Realization Center directly to support them. But you can also get it here.
I grabbed this out of the library when the octopus book still wasn’t ready, because of the bees in the title. This is a whim, but it is in the line up, or on the nightstand as they say:
This book has been eye opening for me because it is a grounded business practice that also illuminates not only the patterning but is connecting for me the subconscious neurology of why the cycles of entrepreneurship can be a never-ending stress cycle, unless you approach it differently.
Everything I am consuming right now is about repatterning (including the Yogananda text I shared). That is the core of what I what to consume to this year, structural repatterning and aperture opening information to live more fully into the possible. To that end, I’m finishing one last book, that I read 80% of last year and then had forgotten about it, but highly highly recommend.
Do I actually have these many books going? Yes.
I also normally several beverages going at the same time. I seem to like to meet the moment. What I read in the morning is not what I read at night. What I read for inspiration is not what I read for indulgence (normally, but I really cannot waste precious time on a bad book). It’s also why I really appreciate fiction recommendations.
Lastly, I’ll share with you the song we have been enjoying each morning. It’s a good way to start the day.
And, of course, if you are looking for some real-life stories to stack your inspiration diet to keep your vision high for 2023, you can order Rebirth. Thanks for being here and more coming soon!
