Amazing Bio-Hack
A skim
Friend, I have a quick hack for you that I wanted to share: Skim over Scroll.
You will need the simplest of things: books.
Grab a short form book: poetry, essay, even a magazine.
Now, before you go onto the next step —if you are aren’t sure WHICH book, I highly recommend, looking up your closest 2nd hand bookshop or thrift store, one you have been eying and head on out for a drive, and get out there today. Or tomorrow will do.
Of course, you may have to stop first at a local coffee shop for a latte to help you focus, then get yourself into the used bookshop and — peruse the aisles.
No bustling. This is a languid stroll towards the books: let them beckon you. Many people have forgotten how nutrient dense poetry is, or what a rare mineral old pages are so be on the look-out for something simple and small. It may wink at you.
It’s best to get three really. There is something pleasing to the mind about a triad.
If not poetry, maybe something simple: a well written young adult book that someone just cleared off their shelves, a classic children’s book that teaches you how important you are, or a cookbook, with good illustrations for new concoctions.
Sip your latte. Or matcha. Or maybe even a nice rooibos.
Depending on where you are, linger. Remember why books are magic.
When you get back home —put the book in the bathroom and leave it there.
Bio-hack complete; on one condition, the next time you go to the bathroom. No phone. Leave the scroll, and the next time you sit have a skim.
Remember flipping through pages of magazines, or rereading the white elephant present of Bathroom Wisdom?
Head back into a time of sanctity when the door closes and give your mind a place to rest.
Let me know how it goes,
Kate
